The kids were winding down with school and we had the end of the year projects due - I have learned more about The Boston Aquarium's Water Management Program and the wonderful state of Wisconsin than any Mother should know. Finally we are back on track - thanks so much for your patience.</div><div align="center">.</div><div align="center">So now after a very long wait we get to tour Millie's house in New Orleans!!! Millie and I have known each other almost 20 years. We have been through relocation's, births, deaths and natural disasters together. Through it all we have stayed good friends despite our distances. Millie grew up in New Orleans and like most, the draw to return to her hometown was so strong; she returned over 15 years ago and will never leave again!<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tSGOcFKOoqI/SgggT0pNZpI/AAAAAAAACSY/uexSZ_VqJ80/s1600-h/IMG_1323.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334549283541444242" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tSGOcFKOoqI/SgggT0pNZpI/AAAAAAAACSY/uexSZ_VqJ80/s400/IMG_1323.jpg" style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" /></a> Millie is an interior designer, inspired by her own former designer (and dear friend), Jennifer Price of Dixon Smith in Baton Rouge. After Hurricane Katrina, like many others, Millie lost everything. So, when she was able to rebuild and start anew, she decided that since Jennifer had helped her build a such a great foundation, she wanted to give it a whirl on her own. Her results are outstanding! A wonderful large round dining table seats ten. But truth be told, this is also the family room! Millie has three children and as such, created a room that is beautiful but also child friendly. Notice the gorgeous curtains, artwork and bookcases. Fabrics are velvets and chenilles which hold up to children's wear and tear. What a wonderful feeling it brings to this room. I also love Millie's collection of framed black and white prints of her family.</p><p align="center">I should have taken photos of the upstairs- Millie's bedroom is gorgeous, filled with antiques and custom Leontine linens. The children's bedrooms are also adorable! But I will save that for another day! HOME DECOR: CHILDS PLAY

<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I love creating rooms for young people</span>. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Children have boundless imaginations and interviewing them for a room redesign is a lesson in possibilities. Whether tweens, teens or preschoolers, they have no fear of color and they know exactly what they love. A scalloped bottom added a feminine touch and the puffy posies - a fun little project I did myself - added a touch of whimsy and youth. (They are removable for when she is a little older down the road). </div><div style="text-align: center;">The room had a large window in an alcove that was a natural spot to create a window seat. On the inside edge I repeated the scallop detail. Next to the curtain is a pompom pouf - one of Haileys favorite things in her room. Adjacent to the room, a private bathroom gets the same valance treatment and a shower curtain in the same fabrics as the bedroom. Above the doorway is a series of photos we had taken of Hailey at Blue Moon studio in Laguna Niguel. The studio provided wings, dress and floral wreath for her head, transforming her into a fairy. The photos were magical! Not only does she have a room fit for a fairy princess, she IS the fairy princess. We removed the twin size bed from the room and brought in a queen sized mattress and box spring, elevated with risers to allow for possible storage underneath. We turned the bed sideways because of space concerns and so that the bed didn't completely block the beautiful new window seat. I created and upholstered the headboard, in deep purple corduroy. The darker color adds a little drama, a little sophistication and a little depth to the room. HOME DECOR: The GREAT outdoors... Alana's New Resort

A typical tract home when they purchased, but with a nice size back yard and within a couple houses of the end of a culdesac. Over 20 years after it was built, her home was worth well over twice what they paid for it, but it still looked like a typical tract home. With a teenage boy and a nearly teenage girl, Alana wanted a pool and spa with entertaining areas to appeal to the kids and their friends, and enjoy family time together. Since we were beautifying the back of the house, we decided to give the front of the house a facelift at the same time.
